'The Ark Window '

The design takes the ark as its theme and the story unfolds across the two lights.

The left-hand light shows darkening storm clouds gathering. The animals embark, while overhead a raven circles.

The right-hand light shows a brightening sky and the animals leaving for dry land. On deck Noah lifts up his arms in thanksgiving and praise. The white dove flies above with the olive branch in its beak.

Both lights are encircled by a rainbow, illuminated by rays from the sun in the tracery, a symbol of God’s presence. The other tracery lights contain - top centre pair, the stars of the heavens, surrounding the sun. Far right, a man kneeling in prayer and far left, spring flowers, snowdrops, daffodils and hyacinths.

St Nicholas’ Church, Wallasey
