'Let there be light and hope'

The church is a light and airy eighteenth century building of simplicity and elegance. The aim of the design is to harmonize with and enhance this distinctive architecture.
The ‘Light and Hope’ window is set in Autumn, the time of year when harvests are gathered and the seeds for future crops carefully saved, a time of thanksgiving and hope.
At the heart of the design is a golden cross. This extends upwards through a cloudy sky to a rainbow (a symbol of the Covenant) and a canopy of fruiting boughs at the top (a reference to the tree of life). There are apples, pears cherries, damsons, and in the arch the hedgerow harvest of blackberries and cobnuts. The foot of the golden cross becomes a river of water, dropping down through willow, bulrushes and flag Iris. The swag of flowers at the base of the window contains plants, flowers and fruits of late summer and autumn that can be found around Ribchester.
