2004
Design by Heike Sahner
Part of a Victorian church 4-light window a new painted centre (original missing) was created to celebrate Jeremiah Horrocks and the Transit of Venus at St. Michael's Church, Hoole
June 2004
On Tuesday 8th June 2004 Venus crossed the face of the sun for the first time since 1882. The first observation of this transit was made in 1639 by Jeremiah Horrocks at the age of 21, from Carr House in Hoole, Lancashire, where he lived for the majority of his life. A second "Transit" window was also installed in Carr House (see picture) in 2004.
